titleOfInvention Production of optically active diol
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the title diol while preventing lowering of optical purity in the production on industrial scale by treating an enanthiomer mixture of a diol with a microorganism and subjecting the treatment-finished liquid to treatment for preventing lowering of optical purity. n CONSTITUTION: When an enanthiomer mixture of a diol (preferably 1, 3- butanediol) is treated with a microorganism to collect the residual optically active diol, the treatment-finished liquid is subjected to treatment for preventing lowering of optical purity to provide the aimed diol while preventing lowering of optical purity of the remaining optically active diol. Furthermore, in the above-mentioned preventing treatment, the liquid after treatment with the micro organism was finished is put at least under aerobic conditions and the liquid is preferably subjected to heating treatment, cooling treatment, acidification treatment or base-forming treatment or treatment in which an organic solvent is added. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
