titleOfInvention Micro cell fusion device
abstract PURPOSE: To make it possible to accurately and efficiently obtain a fused cell by bringing a pair of different kind of cells into contact with each other, applying pulse electric voltage to cell or irradiating the contact part with laser. n CONSTITUTION: Solutions of suspended cells A and B are pushed out through cell feed paths 4 and 4' by micropumps 2 and 2' and then these cells A and B are caught in microgears 5 and 5' one by one by static micromotors 3 and 3' and then fed to a fusion part 52 to bring into these cell contact with each other. In this time, position of teeth of these microgears 5 and 5' is detected with a supermicro sensor by laser beam and it is detected that the fusion part 52 is formed between teeth and simultaneously positions of these cells A and B are detected. Then pulse voltage is applied to electrodes 53 and 53' arranged in tooth bottom of the fusion part and cells are fused to provide the fused cell C. Then the cell C is passed through a discharge port 34 by rotation of microgears 5 and 5' and caught in a receiver 35. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
