abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the title additive excellent in heat resistance etc., by coating biologically active substances with a coating composition stable even at elevated temperatures prepared by combination of a fatty acid metal salt and fatty acid and/or fatty oil(s) with their melting points specified respectively. n CONSTITUTION: Firstly, a coating composition ≥85°C in melting point is prepared by mixing (A) a fatty acid metal salt ≥85°C in melting point (e.g. calcium stearate) and (B) a fatty acid <85°C in melting point (e.g. stearic acid) and/or (C) fatty oil(s) (e.g. tallow). Thence, biologically active substance(s) (e.g. vitamin(s), amino acid(s)) is coated with this composition, thus giving the objective feed additive. Thereby, the melting point of the resultant coating film can be set at any point not lower than 85°C, and the present feed additive will never leak out the biologically active substance(s) included therein even if exposed to a temperature ≥85°C during feed shaping and drying processes. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
