titleOfInvention Manufacture of polymer film
abstract PURPOSE: To heighten the productivity of films, while the labor for often replacing electrodes is saved by a method in which ultraviolet rays are radiated on the electrode and its periphery, and the sublimated material on the electrode and its periphery is effectively photolyzed and oxidation-decomposed by the action of said ultraviolet rays and the ozone generated thereby. n CONSTITUTION: Static charge is applied onto the surface of the molten film 2 extruded from the nozzle of a die 1 by the action of an electrode 3, and the film is brought in close contact with the surface of a rotary cooling drum 4 by the action of static electricity, and is solidified under cooling. The cooled and solidified film (unoriented film) is transferred to next process. Then, ultraviolet rays is radiated on the electrode and its periphery. This radiation is generally continuous, and the drum side of the electrode is arranged to be irradiated with the ultraviolet rays reflected on the drum surface. A reflecting plate 10 collects the ultraviolet rays near the electrode. Since the ozone generated by the radiation of ultraviolet rays is harmful to human body, whole ejecting part is covered with shields 7, 8, and the ozone sucked by a blower 11 is decomposed in an ozone decomposing device 12. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
