abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a thermal recording material having excellent water resistance, plasticizer resistance and oil resistance and capable of being preserved for a long period of time by providing a protective layer based on a water-soluble crosslinking agent and a specific organoboron compound polymer. n CONSTITUTION: A protective layer containing specific components is formed on a thermal color forming layer. The protective layer is based on a polyvinyl alcohol resin (A), a polyvinyl alcohol derivative resin (B) having an acetoacetate group in its molecule, a water-soluble crosslinking agent (C) capable of performing the crosslinking reaction with the hydroxyl group and acetoacetate group in the molecules of the resins and an organoboron compound (D) represented by formula I (wherein P is an integer of 10 or more). As the water- soluble crosslinking agent (C), a dialdehyde type one such as glyoxal, a polyamine type one or a diglycidyl type one are designated. The content of the crosslinking agent (C) to 100 pts.wt. of the total amount of the polyvinyl alcohol resin (A) and the polyvinyl alcohol derivative resin (B) containing the acetoacetate group is 1-30 pts.wt. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
