titleOfInvention Production of high specific gravity polymer particle
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the subject high specific gravity particle having a large particle diameter and suitable as a carrier particle for a diagnostics by using a solid monomer insoluble in water at the ordinary temperature and carrying out speed polymerization using a specified method. n CONSTITUTION: A monomer solution prepared by dissolving (A) a solid monomer (preferably pentachlorophenyl acrylate, etc.) insoluble in water at the ordinary temperature in (B) an oil-soluble monomer (preferably aromatic vinyl monomer such as styrene) is initially dispersed finely in an aqueous medium (preferably water) to obtain an emulsion. The resultant emulsion is then added to a seed dispersion prepared by dispersing seed particles in an aqueous medium and the above-mentioned monomer solution is absorbed to said seed particles. Copolymerization between the monomers (A) and (B) is subsequently carried out, thus obtaining the objective particles. In addition, benzoyl peroxide, etc., is preferable as a polymerization initiator for the blending contained in the above-mentioned monomer solution. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
