titleOfInvention Polymerization of alpha-olefin
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a highly stereoregular poly-α-olefin having a relatively wide mol.wt. distribution by polymerizing an α-olefin in the presence of a catalyst comprising a transition metal catalyst prepared by impregnating a Ti compound with a magnesium halide and an organoaluminum compound, wherein a specified catalyst is used as the transition metal catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: A process for polymerizing an α-olefin (e.g. propylene) in the presence of a catalyst comprising a transition metal catalyst prepared by impregnating a Ti compound with a magnesium halide and an organoaluminum compound (e.g. triethylaluminum), wherein said transition metal catalyst is one prepared by copulverizing a magnesium halide (e.g. MgCl 2 ), a phthalic diester (e.g. diisobutyl phthalate), a Ti (IV) compound having at least one halogen atom (e.g. TiCl 4 ), and ZrCl 4 and/or HfCl 4 and heat-treating the product of copulverization in the presence of a (halogenated) hydrocarbon compound (e.g. toluene). n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
