abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the title component being very excellent in catalytic activity and stereoregular polymerization and improved in abrasion resistance, particle properties and convenience of handling by treating a solid catalyst precursor containing a specified trivalent Ti compound with a small amount of an olefin in the presence of an organoaluminum compound. n CONSTITUTION: The title component is obtained by treating a trivalent Ti compound-containing solid catalyst precursor obtained by treating a solid product obtained by reducing a Ti compound of formula II (wherein R 1 is a 1-20C hydrocarbon group; X is halogen; and n is in the range: 0<n≤4) with an organomagnesium compound in the presence of an Si-O bondcontaining organosilicon compound [desirably an alkoxysilane compound of formula I (wherein R 2 is a 1-20C hydrocarbon group; and R 3 is H or a 1-20C hydrocarbon group)] with an ester compound (e.g. phthalic diester) and further treating the treated product with a mixture of an ether compound (e.g. dibutyl ether) with TiCl 4 or a mixture of an ether compound with TiCl 4 and an ester compound with a small amount of an olefin in the presence of an organoaluminum compound. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
