titleOfInvention Production of unsaturated monomer
abstract PURPOSE: To produce the subject higher-purity unsaturated monomer excellent in hue in a mild condition in a high yield by reacting a carboxylic anhydride such as acrylic anhydride with an active hydrogen compound such as an alcohol at ≤a certain temperature. n CONSTITUTION: A carboxylic anhydride of formula I (R 1 and R 2 are H, alkyl or halogen) is reacted with an active hydrogen compound (e.g. tetraethylene glycol) of formula II (X is O, S or NH; R 3 is OH, SH or residual group obtained by removal of OH, SH or amino group from active hydrogen compound containing OH, SH or amino group; n is positive integer) while controlling the reaction temperature to ≤15°C to obtain the objective unsaturated monomer (e.g. tetraethylene glycol dimethacrylate) of formula III. The resultant unsaturated monomer of high quality in regard to hue and purity is useful as a monomer, etc., for a resin as an optical material, a surface coating material, an electronic material, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
