abstract PURPOSE: To promote action of utilizing fats in body as an energy source, to provide action of raising durability of motion and to give shaping up effects, by adding non-protein nitrogen components of milk to drink for sports. n CONSTITUTION: A drink for sports containing water, vitamins, minerals, glucide, etc., is blended with carnitine-containing non-protein nitrogen components of milk. The non-protein nitrogen components of milk, for example, are obtained by removing casein from milk to give whey solution, concentrating the whey solution, desalting the whey solution by dialysis, etc., further removing lactose, concentrating the prepared supernatant liquid, optionally drying. When carnitine contained in the non-protein nitrogen components of milk generates energy by oxidation of long-chain fatty acids in mitochondria, the components play a role of carrier to transport the long-chain fatty acids to mitochondria. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
