titleOfInvention Production of fatty acid amide
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound useful as a low-irritant high-frothing nonionic surfactant in one step in high yield at a low temperature by using a fatty acid halide and a polyhydroxylamine as raw materials and subjecting to condensation reaction. n CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula VI can be produced by using a fatty acid halide of formula I (R 1 is 1-21C straight or branched-chain alkyl or alkenyl; X is halogen) and a polyhydroxylamine of formula II {R 2 is H, 1-22C straight or branched-chain alkyl, alkenyl or group of formula III (A is 2-3C alkylene; m is 1-5; R 4 is H or 1-22C straight or branched-chain alkyl or alkenyl); R 3 is group of formula IV [G is H or group of formula V (P is 1-10); n is 3-4]} as starting raw materials and condensing the compounds in the presence of an alkaline substance (e.g. sodium hydroxide) in a solvent (e.g. acetone) at 5-40°C (especially 15-30°C) while keeping the pH at preferably 9-12.5. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
