abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound useful as surfactants in high yield with high purity, by acylation of 2-hydroxy-tertiary amine, followed by reaction with an alkali metal salt of monochloro- or monobromo-alkanoic acid. n CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula II (R f is 4-20C perfluoroalkyl; R 1 and R 2 are each 1-4C alkyl or 2-4C alkenyl, or R 1 and R 2 together with the N atom to which they are attached form piperidine, morpholine or N-1-4C alkylpiperazine ring) is acylated with an acid anhydride, an acid or an acid halide having a moiety of formula I (R is 1-4C alkyl) as an acylating agent, thereby to give a 2-acyloxy-tertiary amine of formula III.
