PURPOSE: To suppress the secretion of insulin without exerting adverse influence on the blood sugar level by preparing a food composition containing, as an active component, a purified product of roasted dextrin obtained by the thermal decomposition of starch or hydrolyzed starch. n CONSTITUTION: Starch or hydrolyzed starch is thermally decomposed by heating at about 150-220°C for about 1-5 hr in the presence or absence of an acid prefer ably under normal pressure. The obtained roasted dextrin is treated with α-am ylase and/or transglucosidase and, as necessary, subjected to filtration, deodoriza tion, etc., to obtain a purified product. The purified product of the roasted dextrin is compounded as an active component to obtain the objective food composition effective in suppressing the secretion of insulin. Drink, dessert, candy, etc., can be cited as the representative examples of the food raw mate rial. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio |
