abstract PURPOSE: To provide a triphenylmethane dye which is synthesized using a piperazine deriv. as an intermediate, can be used as a basic dye particularly in coloration of paper, and can be satisfactorily applied from an aq. dye medium. n CONSTITUTION: This triphenylmethane dye is represented by formula I wherein R 1 s, which may be the same or different, each independently represent a hydrogen atom or an optionally substd. 1-6 alkyl group, or alternatively, two R 1 s, together with a nitrogen atom bonded thereto, represent one satd. five-membered or six-membered heterocyclic group which may optionally have an additional dissimilar atom; R 2 and R 5 , which may be the same or different, each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a 1-4C alkyl group; R 3 and R 4 , which may be the same or different, represent a hydrogen atom, a 1-4C alkyl group, a 1-4C alkoxy group, or a halogen atom; An⊖ represents an equivalent anion; and n's, which may be the same or different, are 1 or 2. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO
