abstract PURPOSE:To extend the applicable range of environmental temp. and humidity for a disk by controlling the expansion coefft. against temp. and humidity of a biaxially oriented film comprising poly-1,4-cyclohexylene dimethylene terephthalate to specified ranges. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic recording flexible disk consists of a biaxially oriented film comprising poly-1,4-cyclohexylene dimethylene terephthalate polyester as the base material and a magnetic layer formed on this film. This biaxially oriented film is prepared so that, in the plane including the longitudinal and width directions, it has the maximum temp. expansion coefft. of (9 - 35) x 10<-6> deg.C-1, the maximum humidity expansion coefft. of (0 - 8.0) x 10<-6> % RH<-1>, with the difference between the maximum and minimum temp. expansion coefft. of (0 - 8.0) x 10<-6> deg.C<-1> and the difference between the maximum and minimum humidity expansion coefft. of (0 - 3.0) x 10<-6>%RH<-1>. Thereby, the obtd. flexible magnetic recording disk can be used in an environment of high temp. and humidity ranges for high density magnetic recording.
