| abstract | PURPOSE: To provide a skin external drug having high safety and stability, not causing adverse actions and having an antibacterial activity effective for the treatment and prevention of acne by compounding a compound selected from cardanol, cardol, methylcardol and anacardic acid. n CONSTITUTION: The objective drug contains 0.005-1wt.% of at least one selected a group comprising cardanol, cardol, methyl cardol and anacardic acid as an active ingredient. The ingredient is suitably compounded with conventional carrier, excipient and other additives and subsequently prepared into the objective drug by a conventional preparation method. The cardanol, cardol, methyl cardol and anacardic acid are contained in cashew nut, and the antibacterial substances are especially contained in the shell of the cashew nut in a large amount.
