abstract |
PURPOSE: To produce an α-olefin polymer improved in stereo-regularity and catalytic efficiency while suppressing the formation of by-product polymer by polymerizing an α-olefin in the presence of a specified catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: A solid component (i) essentially consisting of Ti, Mg and halogen is mixed with an organosilicon compound (ii) having at least two Si-OR 1 bonds (wherein R 1 is a 1-8C hydrocarbon residue) in an amount to give an atomic ratio (Si/Ti) of the silicon atoms of component (ii) to the titanium atoms of component (i) of 0.01-1000, a vinylsilane compound (iii) and an organometallic compound (iv) of a group I-III metal of the periodic table in an amount to give an atomic ratio (metal/Ti) of the metallic atoms of component (iii) to the titanium atoms of component (i) of 0.01-1000 to obtain a solid catalyst component (a) for a Ziegler catalyst. Component (a) is mixed with an organoaluminum compound (b) in a weight ratio (b/a) of 0.01-1000 to obtain a catalyst for polymerizing an α-olefin.
