titleOfInvention Detector for alcohol content
abstract PURPOSE: To continuously detect alcohol content in injected fuel without delay with high precision by equipping a light emitting element, a light transmissible fuel partition, a light transmission body and a unidimensional light position detection element. n CONSTITUTION: The emitted light from emitting element 4 passes through a diaphragm 8 and made to parallel luminous flux 11 by a collimination lens 9. This luminous flux 11 is made vertically incident on a light transmissible fuel partition 10 and transmitted. After the luminous flux 11 is transmitted through fuel in a fuel chamber 6, it is made incident on the refracting interface of a light transmission body 13. Furthermore the luminous flux 11 is transmitted through the light transmission body 13 and reflected by the reflecting face 14 formed to the other end and made incident on the refracting interface and again refracted into fuel. Refracted light is made incident into the partition 10 and refracted and thereafter transmitted through the partition 10 and made incident into a condenser lens 15 and reaches a unidimensional light position detection element 16. When the refractive index of fuel is changed according to the change of alcohol content in fuel, refractive angles in the refracting interfaces of the light transmission body 3, the partition 10 and fuel are changed. Accordingly the incident position on the element 16 of light emitted from the light emitting element 4 is changed. The output voltage of a detection circuit becomes the value correspondent to alcohol content. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
