abstract PURPOSE: To provide a flame-retardant masterbatch containing a resin-based flame-retardant meltable at the molding temperature of a thermoplastic resin to be flame-retarded and a flame-retardant non-meltable at the temperature, exhibiting excellent heat-deformation resistance, impact resistance, moldability, etc., and having high concentration. n CONSTITUTION: The objective flame-retardant masterbatch contains (A) a resin- based flame-retardant meltable at the molding temperature of a thermoplastic resin to be flame-retarded, preferably a brominated epoxy resin having an average molecular weight of 1,000-25,000, especially a terminal-blocked brominated epoxy resin, (B) 300-1,600 pts.wt. (based on 100 pts.wt. of the component A) of a flame-retardant (e.g. decabromodiphenyl oxide or metal hydrate) and/or a flame-retarding assistant (e.g. antimony trioxide) non-meltable at the molding temperature and, preferably further (C) a thermoplastic elastomer (preferably styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer, etc.) and (D) a thermoplastic resin same as or compatible with the thermoplastic resin to be flame- retarded. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
