PURPOSE: To obtain a zinc-based stable clear aqueous composition composed of a specific anionic polymer derived from a natural product and a specific complexing agent, having a specific pH value, and useful as a mouth cleaning agent and a gel dentifrice. n CONSTITUTION: A complexing agent selected from sodium gluconate, malic acid, aspartic acid, gluconic acid, succinic acid, glucuronic acid, sodium glutamate and fumaric acid, and their mixture is dissolved in water. To the resultant solution, a sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (preferably, the molecular weight is 90,000-250,000, and the degree of etherification is 0.65-0.95) or sodium alginate is added, and subsequently a pharmaceutically permissible zinc salt (e.g. zinc sulfate, zinc acetate or zinc chloride) is dissolved to form a complex of zinc/a complexing agent/a polymer in the solution. Thus, the objective zinc salt-based stable clear aqueous composition having a pH value of 5.7-6.5 is obtained. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO |
