abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a coating composition which can provide a coating film with an adjusted fluidity and a good appearance by compounding a mixture of a polyol resin and a cross-linking agent that can react with a hydroxy group with two types of cross-linked polymer particles differing in average particle size. n CONSTITUTION: 30-80wt.% monofunctional vinylic monomer and 20-70wt.% polyfunctional vinylic monomer are subjected to emulsion polymerization to obtain cross-linked polymer particles with an average particle size of 10 to 100nm. Separately, 70-99wt.% monofunctional vinylic monomer and 1-30wt.% polyfunctional vinylic monomer are subjected to soap-free emulsifion polymerization or a non-aqueous dispersion polymerization, thereby to obtain cross-linked polymer particles with an average particle size of 101 to 500nm. 100 parts by weight resin mixture consisting of 30-90% polyol resin and 10-70% cross-linking agent which can react with a hydroxy group and is made of an amino resin or a polyisocyanate compound is compounded with 5-30 parts by weight of the above-obtained two types of polymer particles. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
