abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a hard confection comprising hydrogenated isomaltulose and a medicinally active ingredient, capable of being slowly dissolved, and suitable for releasing the active ingredient over an extended period. n CONSTITUTION: This hard confection comprises 50-98wt.% of hydrogenated isomaltulose, 1.0-15mg/dose of a medicinally active ingredient, and further a flavor, a sweetener, a coloring agent, a binder, etc. The active ingredient to be added is an antitussive, decongestant, antihistamine or expectorant ingredient. For example, the combination of hexylresorcinal with menthol for the treatment of sore throats, coughs or nasal congestion, the combination of phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride salt for the treatment of nasal congestion, and the combination of dextromethorphan hydrobromide salt, menthol, menthol eucalyptus, benzocaine and cetyl pyridinium for the treatment of cough combined with sore throat are used, respectively. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO |
