abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the title resin system that when set shows a single phase and is useful for obtaining a carbon-reinforced composite product having a high compression value after impact by incorporating an epoxy resin component and specified amounts of a specified preparatory reaction product component and a specified curing agent. n CONSTITUTION: This resin system comprises an epoxy resin component (e.g. a DGEB epoxy resin) in an amount of 10 to about 80 wt.% (based on the resin system), a preparatory reaction product component having such a molecular weight that, when the resin system is cured, does not result in phase separation and is a reaction product substantially free from any phenolic OH groups of an epoxy resin (e.g. an epoxy resin obtained by the reaction of epichlorohydrin and phenolated dicyclopentadiene) with a diol (e.g. 2,7-dihyroxynaphthalene) in an amount of 10 to about 50 wt.% (based on the resin system), and an aromatic diamine curing agent (e.g. 4,4'-diaminodiphenylsulfone) in an amount of 0.8 to about 1.6 equivalents for the epoxy groups of both of the above components. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO |
