titleOfInvention Production of particles of polymeric acid salt
abstract PURPOSE: To improve the rate of ionic depolarization of the subject particle by adding an alcohol to an aqueous solution of a mixture of alkali metal salts of polymeric sulfonic and polymeric carboxylic acids and adding dropwise an organic solvent of an intermediate polarity to the resulting mixture to bring it into a state of microscopic phase separation. n CONSTITUTION: A mixture of 20-80wt.% alkali metal salt of a polymeric sulfonic acid of a mol.wt. of 10 2 -10 5 (e.g. polysodium styrenesulfonate) with 80-20wt.% alkali metal salt of a polymeric styrenesulfonate) with 80-20wt.% alkali metal salt of a polymeric carboxylic acid of a mol.wt. of 10 2 -10 5 (e.g. poly sodium acrylate) is dissolved in water to obtain an aqueous solution of a concentration of 0.1-50wt.%. This solution is mixed with 0.1-2 times by weight as much an alcohol (e.g. methanol), and 1-4 times by weight as much an organic solvent of an intermediate polarity, a permittivity of 5-25 and an atmospheric viscosity ≤2cP (e.g. methyl ethyl ketone) is added dropwise to the obtained mixture to bring it into a state of microscopic phase separation. The resulting mixture is diluted 1.5- to 10-fold with an organic solvent of the intermediate polarity and is freed from the solvent to obtain particles of the polymeric acid of a mean particle diameter of 0.01-0.5μm. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
