abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a packaging material effectively reduced in the formation of white powder in an oligomeric region by adding a specified titanium compound and a specified phosphorous compound to a polyester comprising a terephthalic acid component and an ethylene glycol component. n CONSTITUTION: A polyester comprising an acid component mainly consisting of terephthalic acid and a glycol component mainly consisting of ethylene glycol and containing 5-12ppm (in terms of the titanium atom) of an additive A and 25-80ppm (in terms of the phosphorus atom) of an additive B, wherein the content of diethylene glycol is 1.35-1.65wt.% and the content of a cyclic ethylene terephthalate trimer is 0.35wt.% or less. The additive A is an ethylene glycol solution of a titanium compound, obtained by mixing titanium tetrabutoxide with ethylene glycol and acetic acid and heating the resulting mixture.
