abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the title yarn excellent in stretchability, water absorptivity and water retentivity by wrapping specific sheath yarn around core yarn consisting of elastic yarn with specified extension rate and forming at random looped projections or coiled spring winding structures. n CONSTITUTION: The objective combined yarn with bulky and soft feeling can be obtained by wrapping (A) sheath yarn made up of fine filament yarn with its single fiber fineness of ≤1.1 denier (e.g. polyamide fiber) around (B) core yarn consisting of elastic yarn with an extension rate given by E/E 1 ×100 (E is elongation at break; E 1 is distance between clamps) of ≥300% (e.g. polyester or polyurethane yarn). The present combined yarn is such that the reduced extension rate of said sheath yarn to the core yarn is 120-500%, and looped projections or coiled spring winding structures are formed at random in the direction of yarn axis through the sheath yarn. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
