titleOfInvention | Device for measuring capacity of liquid etchant |
abstract | PURPOSE: To measure the capacity of a liq. etchant by introducing the etchant used to form a conductive pattern in the production of a printed circuit board into a chamber having two electrodes, energizing the electrodes to deposit Cu on the cathode, stopping the current supply and measuring the time until the potential difference between both electrodes decreases to zero. n CONSTITUTION: A printed circuit board is etched by a liq. etchant based on FeCl 3 , CuCl 2 or H 2 SO 4 -H 2 O 2 to form a conductive pattern. When the etchant is deteriorated, the etchant is transferred into a tank 10 having a cathode 2 of platinum, graphite, etc., and an anode 2', a switch 4 of a DC power source 3 is closed to supply a current, and the Cu in the etchant is deposited on the cathode 2 until a definite voltage is generated in a potentiometer 5. The switch 4 is then opened, the time until the deposited Cu is completely dissolved in the etchant is measured at the time when the voltage of the potentiometer 5 decreases to zero, and the capacity of the etchant is easily and accurately determined by the length of time. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio |
