abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the title preparation showing zero-order release irrespective of pH of release solution by coating an inner nucleus containing xanthine-based drug, ethyl cellulose, etc., with a film consisting essentially of hardened oil and hydroxypropyl cellulose. n CONSTITUTION: An inner nucleus containing xanthine-based drug such as theophylline, diprophylline, caffeine or aminophylline, ethyl cellulose and hydroxypropyl cellulose is coated with a film consisting essentially of a hardened oil (preferably hardened castor oil) and hydroxypropyl cellulose. 20-80wt.% of the drug is contained in the inner nucleus and the blending ratio is preferably 3-4 pts.wt. ethyl cellulose based on 1 pt.wt. hydroxypropyl cellulose. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
