abstract PURPOSE: To easily obtain the subject high mol.wt. polymer without using, phosgene by a method wherein after a diphenol and a dialkyl carbonate are reacted together while a by-produced alcohol is discharged, the product is furthermore condensed at high temp. n CONSTITUTION: At first, a diphenol (a mixture) and a dialkyl carbonate (a mixture) are reacted together while by produced alcohol is discharged to obtain an arom. oligo-carbonate with alkyl carbonate terminals. Successively, the oligo-carbonate is condensed at high temp. to obtain an aimed polymer. In addition, as the diphenol, 2,2-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-propane, etc., are pref. In addition, the first half reaction between the diphenol and the dialkyl carbonate is pref. performed by using an autoclave with a stirrer while the dialkyl carbonate is continuously introduced by means of a pump. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO
