titleOfInvention | Pneumatic capsule for irradiating radiation |
abstract | PURPOSE: To make the title capsule resistive to irradiation of high-dose radiation for a long time by forming it of polyethylene-2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate (PEN-2,6) having specific characteristics. n CONSTITUTION: A capsule being subjected to radiation is formed of PEN-2,6 having ultimate viscosity of 0.45 to 0.90, and the density thereof is 1.345 g/cm 2 or below. The composition of the PEN-2,6 contains titanium of concentration 50 ppm or below as a catalyst residue or an additive, other than a polymer, and does not contain other metal impurities substantially. The PEN-2.6 is synthesized generally by combining a naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylic acid or a functional derivative thereof with ethylene glycol or the functional derivative thereof in the existence of a catalyst and under appropriate conditions of reaction. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio |
