abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a slime control agent which prevents contamination caused by algae and bacteria by allowing specific amine to react with epihalohydrine and dihalide into a water-soluble polymer of specific quality. n CONSTITUTION: Amine shown by formula I (R 1-3 is H or an alkyl group) is allowed to react with epihalohydrine shown by formula II (X is halogen), dihalide shown by X-B-X (X is halogen; B is a 1 to 20C alkylene group) and dihalogenoalkylene ether shown by X-R 2 -O-X (X is halogen; R 3-4 is a 1 to 3C alkylene group). In addition, a slime control agent used is a water-soluble polymer which is a 2mol aqueous solution of KBr having an ultimate viscosity of 0.025 to 1.2. This slime control agent inhibits the generation of algae and filiform bacteria for a long time by adding only a small quantity of it. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
