abstract PURPOSE:To carry out the formation and installation of a shock absorbing member with a simple method in a short time by placing the edge surface to be brought in contact with the car body panel, of an external car trim part, in the concave groove of a supporting jig, and filling a synthetic-resin viscous liquid into the concave groove before curing it through irradiation of ultraviolet ray. CONSTITUTION:A shock-absorbing member B for preventing damage, formed in a certain cross-section configuration, is attached to the peripheral edge a1, which is brought in contact with the car body panel, of an external car trim part A. Here, the shock absorbing member B is formed by an ultraviolet-cured synthetic resin b1. This resin b1 of a butadiene deriv. etc. whose principal constituent is, e.g., a photopolymerized acrylmodified polybutadiene, is applied to the peripheral edge of said part A as a viscous liquid. As for the attaching method, the peripheral edge a1 of said part A is projected into a concave groove S and, by the use of a supporting metal C which supports the part A between its parts, said synthetic resin b1 is poured into a concave groove S. After that, the synthetic resin b1 is cured by irradiation of ultraviolet ray, the supporting metal C is removed, and the mounting of the shock absorbing member B is completed.
