abstract PURPOSE: To decrease the extractability of additives by gasoline by molding a compsn. comprising a high-mol.-wt. high-density polyethylene, two specific antioxidants, a hindered amine light stabilizer, and a carbon black. n CONSTITUTION: A compsn. for a plastic gasoline tank is prepd. by compounding 100 pts.wt. high-mol.-wt. high-density polyethylene having a wt.-average mol.wt. of 15×10 4 -35×10 4 , a high-load melt index (HLMI, 190°C, 21.6kg load) of 2-10g/10min, and a melt index (MI, 190°C, 2.16kg load) of 0.02-0.08g/10min; 0.01-0.1 pts.wt. hindered phenol antioxidant; 0.01-1 pts.wt. phosphorus and/or sulfur antioxidant; 0.01-0.2 pts.wt. hindered amine light stabilizer; and 0.25-1.0 pt.wt. carbon black.
