titleOfInvention Composite material
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composite material excellent in processability and mechanical stability and useful for sporting goods, aircraft parts, architectural materials, etc., by using a silicon carbide-based fiber having a high modulus and a high elongation as a reinforcing material and a polyether ketone resin as a matrix. n CONSTITUTION: A silicone polymer compound fiber having silicon-carbon bonds and silicon-silicon bonds as the main skeleton components is infusibilized and calcined preferably in a non-oxygen atmosphere to obtain a silicon carbide-based fiber having ≥15T/mm 2 tensile modulus and ≥1.8% elongation. The resultant silicon carbide-based fiber is used as a reinforcing material and a polyether ketone resin (preferably having 1.0-2.0 reduced viscosity RV and having repeating structural units of formulae I and II) is used as a matrix, thus obtaining the objective composite material. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
