titleOfInvention | Thermoset resin composition |
abstract | PURPOSE: To prepare a molding material comprising a fast curing and heat- resistant thermoset resin compsn. by compounding a condensed polycyclic arom. resin with a phenol novolak resin. n CONSTITUTION: A polycyclic arom. hydrocarbon (e.g. naphthalene) is reacted with an arom. compd. having at least two methylol groups (e.g. xylylene glycol) in the presence of an acid catalyst (e.g. toluenesulfonic acid) to give a condensed polycyclic arom. resin, which is then compounded with a phenol novolak resin to give a thermoset resin compsn. The condensed polycyclic arom. resin, excellent in the heat resistance as well as in the electrical insulating properties and humidity resistance, cures slowly and requires a high temp. and long time for its molding. The addition of the phenol novolak resin to the condensed resin significantly increases the cure rate of the condensed resin without degrading its inherently excellent properties, esp. heat resistance. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio |
