titleOfInvention Discriminating method of malignant tumor
abstract PURPOSE: To enable easy discrimination as to whether a tumor tissue is malignant or benign, by processing a sample of the tumor tissue by potato lectin (STA) and by observing the presence or absence of a linkage of the STA. n CONSTITUTION: A tissue sample piece or a cellular suspension prepared by an ordinary method is processed by STA according to an ordinary method, the presence or absence and the distribution of an STA linkage are observed by microscopic inspection, and thereby it is determined whether a tumor is malignant or not. The STA processing is executed ordinarily by adding the STA of final concentration 25 μg/ml to the tissue sample piece or the cellular suspension and by making them react with each other for 30 to 60 minutes at a room temperature. On the occasion, morphological observation is facilitated by using the STA marked with a pigment such as rhodamine or Texas red or a fluorescent pigment such as FITC. Specific dyeing utilizing an enzyme reaction may also be conducted after the STA processing, by using the STA marked with an enzyme such as a peroxidase or an alkaline phosphatase, or biotin or the like. By this method, the malignant tumor can be discriminated easily from a benign one. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
