abstract PURPOSE: To obtain indigos in high yield at a high reaction rate in one stage according to a simple method without using other oxidizing agents by reacting specific indoles with an organic hydroperoxide in the presence of a diacyl peroxide, etc. n CONSTITUTION: Indoles without any substituent group at the 2- and 3-positions (e.g. 1-methylindole or 5-cyclopentylindole) are reacted with an organic hydroperoxide (e.g. tert-butyl hydroperoxide) in the presence of a diacyl peroxide (preferably benzoyl peroxide, stearoyl peroxide, etc.) and/or a peracid ester (preferably tert-butyl peracetate, tert-pentyl perlaurate, etc.) as an additive to afford the objective indigos. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
