titleOfInvention Manufacture of foam-molded seat pad integral with frame
abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a seat pad with springs separated from a pad main body by a method wherein foam molding is carried out under the state that springs stretched on a seat frame in a mold are deformed inwards the mold by a projected part provided on a cavity surface, and the springs are restored to their original stretched state by their own elastic force, when the mold is opened. CONSTITUTION:A seat frame 2, on which S-type springs 3 are stretched, is set to a top force 4. After urethane foam stock is poured in a bottom force 5, both the forces are clamped together so as to expand and harden the stock. In this case, the seat frame 2 is set by being fitted onto fixing pins and projections, both of which are provided on the top force 4. Further, a projected part 4a is provided on the cavity surface of the top force 4 so as to push the S-type springs 3 thereby in order to deform the springs 3 towards the bottom force 5. Accordingly, a recessed part is produced on a pad main body 1 by the projected part 4a of the top force 4. After the finish of hardening, by removing the top force 4, the deformed springs 3 restore themselves to the original state by their own elastic force. After mold releasing, the springs 3 locate in the space of the recessed part 1a of the pad main body 1 under the state that the springs 3 separate from the pad main body 1 excluding the neighborhood of the seat frame 2. The resultant foam-molded seat pad integral with the frame shows favorable cushioning characteristics.
