abstract PURPOSE: To prepare an optically isotropic film exhibiting a small and uniform birefringence and useful for various liq. crystal display devices, electroluminescent display devices, optical floppy discs, etc., by compounding an arom. polyester resin and a carbonate resin as the resin components. n CONSTITUTION: An optically isotropic film compsn. is prepd. by compounding: 99-51wt.% arom. polyester mainly comprising structural units of the formula (wherein X is a 1-10C, optionally substd. divalent hydrocarbon group, O, S, SO 2 , or CO; R and R 1 are each a monovalent group selected from the group consisting of optionally substd. 1-20C alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, and arylalkoxy groups, and halogen, and mixtures of those; (p+q)=0-8; and (m) and (n) are each 0 or 1, and when (m) is 1, (n) is not 0); and 10-40wt.% carbonate resin (e.g. polycarbonate). n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
