PURPOSE: To obtain a matting agent which forms nonspherical rubber particles when used in molding and excels in matting properties, heat resistance, impact resistance, etc., by the bulk suspension polymerization of a monomer component in the presence of a low-cis polybutadiene having a specified Mooney viscosity. n CONSTITUTION: A matting agent comprising a graft copolymer is obtained by the bulk suspension polymerization of a monomer component (e.g. styrene or vinyl cyanide) in the presence of a rubber component comprising low-cis polybutadiene of a Mooney viscosity of 30-40. It is desirable that 95-85wt.% monomer component be graft-copolymerized in the presence of 5-15wt.% rubber component. When the obtained matting agent is used in molding by melt kneading, at least 30vol.% of the particles of the rubber component forms nonspherical particles such as fibrous particles, and therefore the obtained molding excels in matting properties and impact resistance and can be desirably used as an automobile interior or exterior furnishing or the like. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio |
