PURPOSE: To obtain a polycyclic and vinyl-aromatic compound by the de-S0 2 coupling of an aromatic sulfinic acid or its salt with an aromatic halogen compound having halogen atom on the aromatic group or a vinyl halide compound in the presence of a platinum-group catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: A polycyclic or vinyl-aromatic compound can be produced by dissolving an aromatic sulfinic acid (the aromatic nucleus is benzene ring, biphenyl ring, naphthalene ring, pyridine ring, etc.) or its salt and an aromatic halogen compound or a vinyl halide compound in DMF, etc., and subjecting to de-SO 2 coupling under heating at 100-180°C in the presence of a platinum- group catalyst. The catalyst is preferably a platinum-group catalyst having an organophosphorus compound ligand (e.g. triphenylphosphine). The reaction is carried out in the presence of 0.1-100 pts. (based on 100 pts. of the aromatic sulfinic acid) of magnesium oxide, NaOH, triethylamine, etc., to trap SO 2 generated by the reaction. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio |
