titleOfInvention | Stabilization of hydrogen peroxide in assay |
abstract | PURPOSE: To stabilize hydrogen peroxide for accurate and simple diagnostic assay of hydrogen peroxide reducing blood components, by including hydrogen peroxide, stannate, nitroprusside, hydroxylated carboxylate agent and a catalase inhibitor. n CONSTITUTION: In measuring hydrogen peroxide in an assay in the presence of a component in a blood causing reduction of detectable hydrogen peroxide, an enzyme (e.g. cholesterol oxidase) is used as a reagent for forming hydrogen peroxide in an amount proportional to the amount of a substance to be analyzed (e.g. cholesterol) in a blood sample. The enzyme is combined with a composition containing stannate, nitroprusside, hydroxylated carboxylate and a catalase inhibitor in an amount to stabilize hydrogen peroxide and the sample, the amount of hydrogen peroxide as a display of the amount of the substance to be analyzed in the sample is measured to determine the substance to be analyzed in the sample. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO |
