titleOfInvention Production of free epsilon-polylysine
abstract PURPOSE:To readily and efficiently obtain a free substance at a low cost by carrying out treatment, such as elution or precipitation, from an ion exchange resin adsorbing epsilon-polylysine with an alkaline solution. CONSTITUTION:An epsilon-polylysine solution is treated with an acidic cation exchange resin to adsorb the epsilon-polylysine thereon. The adsorbed epsilon-polylysine is then eluted with an alkaline solution to remove the excess alkali in the solution with an ultrafiltration membrane. Precipitates are formed by using an organic solvent or freezeor spray-drying is carried out. epsilon-Polylysine obtained by culturing a microorganism (e.g., Streptomyces.albulus) having the ability to produce the epsilon-polylysine is used as the epsilon-polylysine. Amberlite IRC-50(R) is used as the acidic cation exchange resin.
