abstract PURPOSE: To improve the durable reliability in all practicable environments by incorporating at least ≤1 specific fatty acid esters into a magnetic coated compd. n CONSTITUTION: At least ≥1 acetylated propylene glycol fatty acid esters expressed by the formula I or the formula II are incorporated as a lubricant into the magnetic coated compd. of the magnetic recording medium. In the formulas I, II, R denotes a satd. or unsatd. alkyl group having 7 to 29C straight chains or branches. The acetylated propylene glycol fatty acid esters are obtd. by acetylating the ester of propylene glycol and 8 to 30C satd. or unsatd. fatty acid by acetyl chloride or acetic anhydride.
