abstract PURPOSE: To increase the separation factor of a cellulose-based laminated membrane and the rate of permeation by integrating a chitosan membrane with a membrane of a cellulose deriv. obtd. by introducing carboxyl groups into cellulose to produce the laminated membrane. n CONSTITUTION: A chitosan soln. is film casted and solidified on a substrate, and an aq. alkali soln. or an aldehyde compd. is brought into contact with the resulting chitosan membrane. A soln. of a cellulose deriv. obtd. by introducing carboxyl groups into cellulose is film casted and solidified on the chitosan membrane and the resulting cellulose deriv. membrane is integrated with the chitosan membrane to produce a laminated membrane.
