PURPOSE: To obtain an immunosuppressant useful for suppressing immune during organ transplantation and treating autoimmune disease, comprising a phenethyl alcohol as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION: This immunosuppressant contains a compound of formula I (R is formyl or carboxyl), a compound of formula II, a compound of III (R is H or β-D-galactopyranose), a new phenethyl alcohol glycoside of formula IV (R is H or methyl) or a new phenethyl alcohol glycoside of formula V (R is H or methyl) as an active ingredient obtained from ZIOU (root of Rehmannia glutinosa) as a crude medicine widely used in Chinese medicine prescription or its analog plant. When the compound is used as an oral agent, generally 30-1,000mg of the compound is properly applied dividedly several times per adult. |
