Treatment of aromatic polyamide fiber |
abstract |
PURPOSE:To improve the adhesivity of the title fiber to special synthetic rubbers without impairing their molding processability by treating an aromatic polyamide fiber with a treating solution containing specific components followed by further treatment with a second solution prepared by formulating RFL with a chlorophenol compound. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic polyamide fiber is treated with the first treating solution containing a polyepoxide compound (e.g., polyhydric alcohol polyglycidyl ether), blocked polyisocyanate compound and rubber latex followed by further treatment with the second treating solution prepared by formulating RFL with a chlorophenol compound at the weight ratio (65-75):(35-25) (e.g., produced by cocondensating both p-chlorophenol and resorcin with formaldehyde), thus obtaining an aromatic polyamide fiber for rubber reinforcement giving high adhesiveness to e.g., chloroprene rubber or nitrile-butadiene rubber without impairing their molding processability. |
