abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a polyimide fiber or film which has excellent heat resistance and can be industrially and easily manufactured by forming a copolyimide consisting of specified tetracarboxylic acid component and diamine component into a fiber or a film. n CONSTITUTION: A polyimide fiber or film is prepared from a copolyimide wherein the tetracarboxylic acid component consists of benzophenone-3,3',4,4'- tetracarboxylic acid (I) and diphenylsulfone-3,3',4,4'-tetracarboxylic acid (II) and the diamine component consists of 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane (III) and diaminotoluene (IV). Said copolyimide is obtd. by performing dehydration of dianhydrides of said acids (I) and (II) with said diamines (III) and (IV) in a solvent at about 50-200°C under stirring, if necessary, in a vacuum. Taking moldability and physical properties into consideration, it is pref. that this copolyimide should have an inherent viscosity of 0.35-1.2 measured in a solvent of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone at 30°C. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
