titleOfInvention Methacrylic resin composition
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a methacrylic resin composition suitable as a molding material for optical use such as optical element having excellent surface properties and mold release characteristics without damaging transparency and heat resistance by blending a methacrylic resin with a specific amount of a specific higher fatty acid. n CONSTITUTION: (A) 100 pts.wt. methacrylic resin having 0.3-1dl/g intrinsic viscosity (in chloroform at 30°C) is blended with (B) 0.01-0.5 pt.wt. mixture of fatty acids containing ≥80wt.%, preferably ≥90wt.% 20-25C saturated fatty acid (preferably 22C behenic acid) and optionally 0.01-0.5 pt.wt. other fatty acid, most preferably 0.03-0.4 pt.wt. mixture of fatty acids containing 85wt.% behenic acid and 10wt.% arachidonic acid, for example, by dissolving the component B in a monomer of the component A before polymerization and by polymerizing the monomer and the blend is optionally mixed with an antioxidant, an ultraviolet light absorber, a heat stabilizer, colorant, etc., to give a resin composition suitable as a molding material for optical use. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
