titleOfInvention Organic material having nonlinear optical effect
abstract PURPOSE:To improve generating capacity of second higher harmonics required as a material for forming several optical signal-processing elements by constituting the material of an optically active amine salt of a specified carboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:The title org. material comprises an optically active amine salt of a carboxylic acid expressed by the formula I, wherein said optically active amine is one selected from 2-amino-1-butanol, 1-amino-2-propanol, 2- amino-1-propanol, 2-amino-1-(p-nitrophenyl)-1,3-propanediol, 2-dimethylamino-1- phenyl-1-benzyl-1-propanol, 1-(N,N-dimethylamino)-1-phenyl-propylamine. In the formula I, R1 is a 1-12C alkyl group or an H atom; (n) is an integer 1-4; R2 is a methyl group or an H atom which may be same or different from each other when (n) is >=2. By this constitution, a nonlinear susceptibility of a large molecular level is exhibited as it is in a crystal structure of an org. material, and an org. material having high nonlinear optical effect, such as an org. material generating second higher harmonics at high level, is obtd.
